Born in Mexico City to a Brazilian mother and an Argentine father, Diana Helman moved to Rio de Janeiro at the age of 4.

Helman began painting as a child, attending her mother's sculpture workshops and her grandmother's painting classes. Her grandmother, Ione Saldanha, was famous for her work with strips and bamboo. Diana Helman graduated from PUC-Rio with a degree in Graphic Design, focusing on Visual Communication. She worked in design agencies and completed projects for various companies.

For a portion of her professional career, Diana Helman regarded painting as a mere hobby. She took painting courses at the Barro Oco studio in Ipanema and the School of Visual Arts at Parque Lage. However, she continued to work as a designer and communicator. The turning point came in 2015 when she moved with her family to Petrópolis, set up a studio at home, and began to fully immerse herself in painting.

Today, the "Mexican Carioca" creates a series of paintings guided by spirituality and the beauty of simplicity. Through the use of colors, she invites contemplation of life with compositions that capture moments and landscapes with bold gestures and a lot of movement.
